Open 7 days/week 8AM to 6PM - Free Orientation Required For New Shooters

Q: Can anyone come out and shoot at the range?

A: To shoot, you must be at least 18-years-old and speak English fluently. Once you are a member, there is an option to attend our Safe Shooter Course (SSC) which will give you authorization to bring your own children if they are under 18 years old. All members and day-rate shooters are required to attend our one-time New Member Orientation on their first visit.

Q: What kind of shooting range facilities do you have to offer?

  •  A 200-yard rifle range for all semi-automatic and bolt-action rifles.
  • Two 25-yard non-steel pistol ranges which are for paper and cardboard targets.
  • A 25-yard steel target pistol range. (You must take the Safe Shooter Course to shoot on this range.)
  • A 100-yard tactical firearms training range used by Law Enforcement, Military, competitions, and rentals.
  • Private competition bays used for matches and classes.

Q: Do you provide targets to shoot at?

A: You must bring your own paper targets, but we supply the cardboard backers, furring strips (target sticks), and metal target support stands to place your targets into. Specifics will be covered in the range briefing/orientation that you will attend before shooting at Shoot GTR for the first time or becoming a member. We also sell various targets in our Pro Shop, so feel free to pick some up.

Q: Where is the range located?

A: The range is located in the northwest part of Gainesville, off of SR-121 just North of HWY 441 (NW 13th St.) in an area called the NW Industrial Park. The address is 1610 NW 65th Place, Gainesville, FL 32653. We are located past UPS and around the corner from Pepsi Cola.

Q: Can I bring guests?

A: ONLY Members who have our GTR Safe Shooter Course (SSC) certification may bring guests. Members who joined prior to February 2012 who have an RSO or CFI certification may bring guests as well. Guest passes are $10 and can be purchased at the range Pro Shop by those who possess at least one of the aforementioned certifications. Children under 18 are free. However, these certifications are still required. The SSC course is where you can be certified as a GTR Range Safety Officer (RSO). It is offered once a month. (NOTE: The SSC course is also required to shoot on the steel range!). DAY-RATE SHOOTERS CANNOT BRING GUESTS OR TAKE SSC.

Q: Do you give Military and Law Enforcement discounts on memberships?

A: If you are active duty or reserve Law Enforcement/ Military, you will receive a 25% annual discount on membership fees (does not apply to Day Rate guests). You will be required to provide a copy of your Law Enforcement or Military ID to receive this discount.

Q: Do you sell guns or ammo?

A: We sure do! Shoot GTR has a Federal Firearms License (FFL) and sells a variety of rifles, pistols, and shotguns. We also sell ammunition and accessories--everything you need to enjoy shooting! We can also order something if we don’t have it in stock, and we can beat most prices. Stop by today! Visit the Pro Shop to view our monthly deals.

Q: Are you a Class 3 Dealer? (for NFA items like suppressors, SBRs, etc.)

A: Does a one-legged duck swim in circles? Yes! We are proud to be a Class 3 dealer.

Q: Do you offer classes in gun safety, handling, etc.?

A: We host a variety of classes at the range. Please navigate the main menu under “training” for more information regarding classes at the range. We also have several organizations that hold matches at Shoot GTR as well.

Q: Do you have a course that provides the training for a Concealed Weapons License?

A: Yep! And it’s the best around. This isn’t a “shoot one round into a barrel” course. It is an in-depth training session that covers firearm safety, nomenclature, laws, and scenarios. It also covers the fundamentals of handgun marksmanship that will make you an all-around better shooter. This course lasts from 9AM to 6PM and is offered at least once a month.

Q: Why should I choose Shoot GTR over other training facilities?

A: If you are looking for in-depth, top-tier firearms training from a team of experienced instructors with decades of real-world experience, then you have come to the right place. Our instructors come from military, local and federal law enforcement, and competitive shooting backgrounds. We are eager to make you a safe and efficient shooter!
